About this tool
PNG is lossless and can hold transparency, but that comes at the cost of larger files. When an image is photographic and does not need an alpha channel, JPG almost always produces a much smaller file. This converter takes a single PNG and re-encodes it as JPG using your browser. Because JPG has no transparency, any transparent regions in the source PNG are flattened onto a solid background during encoding. Line art, logos, and screenshots with hard edges tend to look worse as JPG; photographs are where JPG shines.
